Sorry, this is not fully correct.
There is one situation when the custom association type name is used for rendering a title label: when the association type is simple AND the child topic type is simple as well. In this case the assoc type name "overrules" the topic type name for the label.
In your case the child type is composite ("Date").

So, at the moment your only resort is to use the CSS pseudo elements.
